The Roof Crop is a design focused, urban agriculture initiative that values and promotes sustainability, ecology, and community engagement.
TRC was conceived as a project to market farmable green roof systems in 2013 and we have since grown into a full-service green roof construction, landscape, and urban farm company with deep ties to the communities in which we work. From residences and office buildings to restaurants and florists, TRC offers services that connect people to more sustainable practices through the food and flowers we grow, the events we host, the beehives we tend, and the hospitality industry we support.
Our greatest sources of inspiration come from developing thoughtful products that are good for people and good for the environment. 2023 will be a year of building on new ideas, new endeavors, and the re-imagination of our HQ at 1516 W Carroll Avenue. Stay tuned.

We grow flowers, edible flowers, produce, grains, and natural dyes in any farmable growing media on roofs and on-grade. Suitable for amenity decks, private residences, and large-scale developments, TRC maintenance plans and partnerships provide a more robust experience than traditional contracts.

FOUNDATION
All profit from the purchase of TRCF honey goes toward our grant fund, which will help develop apiary programs for schools and community gardens. Our mission is to support and rejuvenate collapsing bee populations. Chicago is home to over 1,000 apiaries, and our hometown honey is regarded as a high quality honey due to the variety of pollen sources in the Midwest.
